Recently, Microsoft joined Citrix, HP and Intel in government and industry efforts to power down computers and peripherals on August 27, 2009. On that date, over 5,500 people joined us in powering down their computers, monitors, and printers at the end of the day, for a total savings of 73,333 kilowatt hours. There's even more reason to feel good: We're donating a portion of the cost savings to the Wounded Warrior Project. Our sincere thanks to all of you who "powered it down" on August 27. Please keep up the good work throughout the year, as we all work to save energy and play a positive role in helping the environment.
